Weekly Training Log: Week of June 24th

Another good week of training down and I feel like I am making progress.  I'm cool with that.

I had an absolutely amazing past few days enjoying summer and spending time with my family.  My sister and her family are in town from Minnesota and had some nice time with them.  The highlight of my week had to be having my whole family (dad, sister, brother in law, sister in law, and wife) do Stroke and Stride on Thursday night.  If you would have shown me a picture of this a few years back I would have been in disbelief...  I think running a marathon has changed my sisters way of thinking - doing the long stuff puts everything in perspective.

Then this past weekend, all of us went up to celebrate with the Asmuth and Skoff families for the wedding of Liz and Greg.  Hands down the most fun I have ever had at a wedding (outside of my sisters and my own).  It was up at Devils Thumb Ranch in Winter Park - amazing place...  Got in a 15 mile run at 8500ft and it kicked my ass.

All in all another great week of summer!

Run: 40.0 miles

Weekly Training Log: Week of June 17th

I had a great week this past one that included some good training and time with my son.  Training-wise, I have had some very tired legs for my runs but have gotten them done anyway,  my bike feels great, and my swim still has a ways to go before Louisville.  I am enjoying it all none the less and am happy to have another 200+ mile bike week.  I am aiming to keep that up with the exception of 1 or 2 weeks where I will refocus on higher run milage.

We had some very big and awesome news happen this week too... Boulder will get its own Ironman race.  This has been something that has been talked about for the past few months but has happened so fast that it's kind of unbelievable.  There is no doubt, given I am healthy, that I will be at the start line come August, 3rd 2014.  My father wrote an article for the Daily Camera (Boulders local paper) and it can be found here.

I love summer and am so thankful for this season...  Cheers and happy training.  The Boise RR will be up this week - it'll be nothing special though.

Run: 31.2 miles
Bike: 204.6 miles
Swim: 3200 yards

This was our destination when I had my first real date with my wife little over 6 years ago.

My sons swim lesson.  Beth and I both got to watch this one.

Mom (Beth) did Stroke and Stride on Thursday.  It's a 6pm aquathon that happens every week.  If you are not from Boulder check them out.  This is what got me into the sport.  I was so happy to see Beth out there again!

Weekly Training Log: Week of June 10th

I got back from Boise (I'm still planning on writing a report) on Sunday with my wife and felt pretty crappy.  That continued on Monday so I ended up taking two full days off after that tough 70.3.  My running for the week was fairly inconsistent and tired so I kept the milage very low.  I finally had a fairly strong week on the bike which is great.  I am aiming to keep the weekly milage at 200+ for the remainder of IMKY training.
I was able to go to a baseball game with my parents and son on Thursday and he loved it!  It was the highlight of my week!
Fathers day was awesome as well with a nice sprint triathlon in the morning and a BBQ at our house that afternoon.  The Boulder Sprint Tri has quickly become an awesome event that I look forward to every fathers day.  I have been lucky to do it with my Dad the past few years - not this year, but he was still there to watch.

Run: 25 miles
Bike: 202.8 miles
Swim: 4600 yards

With a power meter, I will use climbing much more from here on out.

Before the Rockies/Nationals game, we went to go meet a few pigs and piglets.

And a mule...

Weekly Training Log: Week of June 3rd

This past weekend I traveled to Boise Idaho to race my first longer one of the season.  I am going to do a separate post on that one, but wanted to log my milage here.

Training for the week went pretty well and was laid back and easy.  I wasn't intending on fully tapering for this race so I did a week of fairly big rest instead.  I will be back up in milage for the following week.  Ironman Louisville training has begun.

Happy Summer!!!!

Run: 23 miles
Bike: 121.5 miles
Swim: 5500 yards

50 Cent icecream cones are at BK.  Eat up Aiden!  I enjoy consuming sticky sugary foods out of the house.  Plastic seats are much easier to clean.

Pre ride in Boise.  There wasn't much to this course, but it served to make a good one.
