Weekly Training Log: Week of May 27th

BolderBoulder 10k was on Monday.  For those of you that don't know me, this is the biggest day of the year for me - It's Christmas.  Seriously.  The Bolder Boulder is the reason that I do endurance sports.  Growing up in this town, it was an event that inspired me to do this stuff.  I remember my dream of breaking an hour in the Bolder Boulder, I remember my dream of breaking 50 minutes in the Bolder Boulder, and I remember that dream of breaking the 40 minute mark.  It's awesome having all of those goals as memories throughout my life as an endurance athlete.  I have been able to experience so many different parts of this race that it really is special for me.  I think this year may have been my 24th time running it.

That being said, I was a bit disappointed with my performance.  At a 1:16 half marathon (in March), I was expecting to run around a 35:30 or so, but ran 36:05 instead.  I simply just didn't have the speed that I thought I would. My splits were a bit more consistent than last year when I ran 3 seconds slower, so I guess that's a positive.  All in all, this is not the easiest 10k and is at altitude so hey - I'll take it - pr by 3 seconds is still a pr.
We had our annual post BB bbq that day and had a great time.  Weather was great and summer has successfully kicked off in Boulder!

Time has started to really train.  It went well this week and missed a few days on the bike that I was planning on.  Wind was a factor for Thurs/Fri.  Run milage was good and productive, bike - not so much.  Boise 70.3 is this weekend and Im excited to kick this year off!

Run: 44.3 miles
Bike: 109 miles
Swim: 3500yds

And my favorite part of doing this blog:  The week in pictures :)  Aloha and happy training!

End of the Bolder Boulder: 10k is a tough tough distance.

Happiest place on earth.

These were cute... they made shirts for all of the people who broke 40 minutes.

The memorial day in the back yard.

My wifes birthday was thursday :)  Great dinner at the Cork to celebrate.

My son finished his first year of montessori and we had a picnic.

A nice baby shower and BBQ on Saturday

Erin and Nathan and Lyla live very close now... We went to check out their place on Sunday.
